About Eva
Eva M. Gordon, LCSW, is the founder and director of Life Guide LCSW, P.C., a mental health practice providing psychotherapy and community mental health education in the New York City area. Her focus is on providing mental health treatment to the Black community as a source of healing and hope. She mainly focuses on Black professional women ages 30 and up who struggle with unhealthy relationships. She helps these women recognize that self-care is their birthright. Ms. Gordon uses several strategies, including exploring behavioral patterns, emotional management, and understanding how multiple factors contribute to a person’s mental health.
Eva, a native of Brooklyn, NY, completed her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000. Her professional experience began with data collection in youth drug and violence prevention research in New York City at Weill Cornell Medical College. Eva continued her career as a case manager at Seamen’s Society for Children and Families in Brooklyn for three years. She provided general preventive services for families at risk of foster care placement. Eva completed her Masters in Social Work in 2007 from Columbia University School of Social Work. Eva then transitioned to program management and development as the Program Manager for the East New York CPP for 8 years. The CPP is a coalition of 40+ organizations connecting families to services to prevent child abuse and/or neglect.
Eva began working in community mental health for 7 years at The Center For Psychotherapy, providing mental health services through an Afrocentric framework for the Black community. She provided services for children, teens, adults, and families. Eva has additional experience with adolescence at John Adams High School as a Substance Abuse Prevention specialist. She was also the Mental Health Consultant at The Laurie Cumbo Children’s Enrichment Center for ages 2-5. Her focus was working with staff and families to help children meet their developmental needs. Since 2020, Eva has provided clinical supervision to graduate students for the Umoja Circles support group in the Action Lab for Social Justice at Columbia University School of Social Work. This support group provides social-emotional tools to the Black community with stress management and mindfulness tools.
Eva is currently the moderator of the Deacon Board at Siloam Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn, NY. The Deacons care for the Sick and Shut-in and facilitate Holy Communion. She is also the Chairperson of Your Body Is a Temple (YBIT) Health Ministry at Siloam. The health ministry provides health information to the congregation and community through workshops, health fairs, and prayer vigils.
Eva conducts workshops on mental health at various locations, including faith-based organizations and community-based organizations. She has also been a panelist at community events focusing on domestic violence and children with special needs.
Eva also enjoys music and movies in her spare time. She also loves exploring local food spots and traveling.​
