Don’t Fear Death, Fear Dying with Unfulfilled Plans

During the Christmas season, I went to about 3 funerals. All of the people that passed away lived a full life, whether it was short, meaning under 60, or 100 years. Many attendees spoke about how the deceased all fulfilled their purpose while on earth and there is a gap to fill with them gone. However, it’s not a gap to fill, it is that we all need to run our own marathon and finish our own journey.

There are many of us waiting to get permission to do the things that are in our hearts, minds, and spirits. The real challenge is to be willing to do those things and worry about the opinions of others after we finish our tasks. Those people who have passed away were all great examples of doing what you feel lead to do spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. Most of all, I don’t think they had much concern for public opinion or the opinions of others in their lives, as we do now. We have to limit the influence others place on our lives and not let those opinions keep us from fulfilling our divine purpose on earth, while we have the time.

There is also a false sense that we have all the time in the world to do the tasks that are set before us. Many of us believe that time is on our side and that it is ours to waste. Our society today fools us with instantaneous success without hard work, yet we waste time doing things that distract us from achieving real success. The idea is to do things that move us closer to our divine purpose. It’s crucial to make time for people and activities that provide internal fulfillment, so our time is not wasted. This is where we make our days count and not count the days until our next birthday.

Making the days count means that we do the things that add value to our lives and that result in improving the world around us. We can start by setting goals to accomplish that lead us to our main goal, as well as be willing to learn new things as we move through the fear of the unknown and staying committed to our goal, even if it is taking longer than our proposed timeline. The idea is to move with the emotions of fear and doubt, but have faith in our skills, passions, and interests.
